Re: Married while on a tourist visa to a US citizen

Dear New Wife:

When an individual arrives in the U.S. on a tourist visa and marries a U.S. citizen, the U.S. citizen is usually allowed to file the paperwork for his green card, a travel permit, and a work permit. We have done this for many wives across the U.S.

There can be complications, though, which is why it is best to at least consult with an attorney before you file the paperwork. Examples of some of the complications are when the husband has a criminal record, when he didn't get divorced properly before getting married, or when he has overstayed his tourist visa more than six months.

Hopefully there are no complications and you will be successful! Good Luck!

A spousal application can be filed for your husband and we can apply for work authorization also during the pendency of the application.

You will need a consultation to determine whether you qualify for this; you may email me at your convenience.
