Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona

Double Shifts

Is it legal for an employer to force you to work doubleshifts? At my job an employee can show up to work a twelve hour shift, but if someone from the next shift calls off then they are forced to work a four hour ''stayover''. We do not sign a waiver agreeing to this and are threatened with termination if we do not comply with the stayover policy.

Re: Double Shifts

Unless you have with the employer some sort of contract or there is a collective bargaining agreement between the employees and management, they can require you to work as many hours as they want.
