Medicare reimbursement
My mother received a settlement for the wrongful death of her husband. Her lawyer is telling her that the amount that Medicare paid during her husbands illness must be paid back by her because of the settlement. Is this true? Thank you!

Yes, your lawyer is correct. However, ask the lawyer if he has tried negotiating with Medicare. Sometimes, they will accept less than the entire amount.
