Legal Question in Personal Injury in Arizona

Defamation of character, slanderous remarks made by family member.

My aunt has been sending hateful letters to my mother slandering not only my mother, but my father, my daughter, my husband, and myself. These remarks are unfounded, and a report has already been filed with the police department for harrassment. My father owns his own business in our city, and is very popular. The remarks made by my aunt to some of his clients is affecting his business. We are trying to figure out the best course of action to deal with this. These remarks are un provoked attacks on my family.

Re: Defamation of character, slanderous remarks made by family member.

The law provides the remedies of Slander [spoken] and Libel [written] if there is injury and economic damage as a result.

The truth is always a complete defense to these actions.

Contact a local personal injury lawyer who can evaluate the affect of these actions. If they are made to third parties and you can prove damages you and your other family members may be entitled to money damages and possibly an injunction to prevent future action and additional harm.
