Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Arizona
Squatters rights?
I was wondering what the laws are about squatting. Can it legally be done on a vacant piece land or house? or in the desert? And if so how long must you remain there to make it legal?

Re: Squatters rights?
Squatters can acquire title through adverse possession, and the time periods vary according to the type of real estate. I believe that the period for city residential property is the longest, ten years. The possession must be actual, open, continuous, exclusive and hostile (encroaching upon the owner's use and possession). For a specific case, see a real estate attorney.
