Legal Question in Tax Law in Arizona

Statute of limitations: When is time up?

A friend moved out of AZ about 10 years ago. It seems the state is attempting to get back taxes from him. He threw away his receipts after 7 years, thinking everything had been settled. What are the options? Isn't there some kind of time limit the State of Arizona has in which to go after a person? Thanks.

1. In most states, the typical St. of Lim. is 3 yrs. Tell that to the AZ tax authorites!! However, if he NEVER filed in AZ, or committed tax fraud, then the St. of LIm. is longer. Good luck!!
