Re: father died and left no power of attorney

If the value of your father's estate is more than $50,000 in personal property and/or more than $75,000 in real property you will need to file an application in the Superior Court in the county where your father lived, asking to be appointed as the personal representative to administer your father's estate.

A power of attorney will not work because powers of attorney are only valid during the grantor's lifetime, and can only be granted by someone who is living and competent.

My office is located in Maricopa County. If your father lived in Maricopa County, I would be happy to discuss this with you at no charge.
