Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Arkansas

Vehicle search question

I work for a company that due to the nature of its field is very secure. All vehicles entering its grounds are subject to search and I agree with that policy. However, they routinely stop vehicles before they are on the company grounds and are still on a state highway. Drivers and passengers are instructed get out, and they proceed to search the vehicle. These searches are conducted by company security. Permission to search is not requested, drivers and passengers are just instructed to get out of the vehicle. Is this not a violation of the 4th amendment?

Re: Vehicle search question

It is not a violation of the 4th Amendment because the security forces are employees of a private enterprise not state actors, i.e. police officers. However, depending on what happens and how during these stops, there may be violations of other state or federal laws.
