Labor liens

How do we put a labor lien on a prefabricated metal building? Though we had a signed contract for $3150 the GC gave this job to another erector. We offered to let him out of contract for $1000 because we had 4 men drive 2.5 hrs to jobsite & 2.5 hrs back, insur costs, gas, w/c, etc. He felt it was too high. Contract stated we were busy and may not be able to get to it for 4 wks and weather permitting. He agreed at signing. We only unloaded 2 wks ago. During that time we also had a snow delay on other work we are doing. Should we contact a lawyer?

Yes, you should contact a lawyer. The signed contract sounds like it is binding as long as you fulfilled your part up to the point that the other party repudiated the contract. I would like to look at the contract. You may want to try to get back the lost profits and any expenses concerning the contract, depending on what the contract may say about this.
