Legal Question in Consumer Law in Arkansas

Unhappy Customer

I own an electronics business and was contracted for a project for over just under $100,000. For several reasons some of which were beyond my control the project took longer than anticipated and the customer became impatient. This customer has hired another contractor to finish and demanded money be returned to him in excess of the difference in products he wishes to return. In fact he would still owe almost $4000.00 for the remaining product in the system. Even after forgiving the rest of the money that was owed to compensate for general customer satisfaction the customer wishes to be paid an additional $6000.00 ''or he'll sue''. I don't see paying an additional $10,000 for his dissatisfaction. Does he have a case?

Re: Unhappy Customer

Do you have a written agreement? Was time an element of the contract? Have you paid for product, or whatever you are using to perform your work, in reliance of the contract?

There are several factors that would determine whether he has a case. I would have to look over the contract or discuss the agreement the 2 of you had. It is possible to attempt to sue someone for a lot of different issues. Whether they can win is a different story, also.

I'm sorry to seem so vague, but would need more information to be able to determine who could sue, and whether it is a strong case. You are welcome to send more information if you would like a more thorough evaluation.
