Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arkansas

Is it legal to be charged for medical test I did not consent to or was told about. I went in for a yearly eye exam and then was sent a bill later for over $200. They said they did these tests and my insurance didn't cover them. However, they were only suppose to give the exam and normal eye stuff, nothing else. Am I now legally obligated to pay them for something I should not have gotten.

Of course, you shouldn't be charged for services that you didn't request or consent to. That said, the answer to your question turns on the nature of the tests and whether they fall within whatever you requested when you made the appointment. For instance, a glaucoma screening may be a part of an optometrist's typical annual screening. Strictly speaking, it's not necessary to determine whether you need corrective lenses, but many optometrists include it in their annual exam because it's important to ocular health.

Without knowing what you requested, what type of exam you were charged for, and what is typically included in your doctor's annual exam, I cannot say to what extent you're liable for the charges. If you require further information, I recommend you contact an attorney.
