I gave a homeless person and her son a place to live . They took clothes, jewerly, toys etc when they left. I call the police and made a report and she clamed she paied me cash for all the things. The police said I made a false report and I should be arrested. A ring that looks like mine is in a pawn shop but I'm afraid to report it. I really believe it to be mine, but I can't afford to get it out. Why would the police want to go after me and not the theif....How can I prove my innocents and get my things back. She's the one who should be arrested.

Saint or Sinner, That is the Question

You've stated your problem very simply, but the problem is such that you really must fill in a lot of other missing pieces.Questions that came to mind were, Who are you? employed or unemployed? Almost homeless yourself? Has a criminal record or doesn't? Disabled in some way? Vulnerable certainly. Do you belong to a minority group? Why would the police say that to you? Abuse? Cruelty? Or you just look or seem like an easy target to kid? a nuisance? Certainly you are sensitive. Appropriately sensitive? or too sensitive? Here's what you should do: Go to a local atty, who will be able to see you, talk to you, go with you to the pawn shop and see the ring -- if it has value. He/she can help you make out a complaint or can manage to get your ring back for you. Have you filled out a police report with a description of your missing valuagbles? Go to an atty and tell him or her your story in more detail. Without those details, no one on the Net is going to be able to help you. Good luck! If you think the ring is yours, why should you be afraid? How much is the ring worth? What ios the value of what the woman took?
