Re: Teacher/Former Student Relationship

While it may be legal (meaning no one would go to jail) it may be very detrimental to the teacher's career. Students are considered off limits, and most districts frown on this kind of relationshp even after graduation. So while your teacher may not go to jail over this, there's a good chance that he might lose his job.

You should also question if this is a relationship between equals or an exploitative relationship. A disparity in age of greater than five years tends to be a very difficult thing to get past, even when there is no former teacher-student relationship.

I would advise both of you to evaluate whether such a relationship would be good for either of you in the long run.
