Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas

My husband wants a divorce. I feel like therapy would help. He can give me no explanation except he wants a divorce. I know for fact he has been seeing a old girlfriend and i would like some information on the laws of separate maintenance. I'm not ready to give up on our marriage, but don't want to be in the dark about about what rights I have. I'm also disabled and he knew up front before our marriage what my physical problems were.

Separate maintenance basically divides your household without a divorce. You two live separate and apart. He could be responsible for one-half of your debts and could be made to pay temporary alimony.

First, try to get him in to counseling. If he won't go then you should go. It'll help. Contact an attorney in White County. You'll probably pay a consultation fee but it will be worth it to learn about your rights. Make copies of all of your financial documents such as tax returns, bank statements, and credit card accounts. This will give your attorney a good idea of how to assess your case.

Finally, find a good support group.
