Legal Question in Medical Leave in Arkansas

periodic reports

My wife had our son on 12/19/03. All request forms for fmla were filed and completed on 8/11/03. Requesting leave beginning on 8/11/03 continuning to or about 2/01/04. During my wife's prgnancy I took intermittent leave for prenatal check ups, took time to care for my wife while she was ill (she was referred to a neurologist for severe headaches during the pregnancy), and then took 7 days for the birth of our son. Now my employer is questioning the dates of our office visits almost to the point of harassment, and requesting documentation for all visits. After reviewing the request form filled in Aug. of 03 of which pargraph 8 says: while on leave you will not be required to furnish us with perodic reports, I feel like I have provided everything that is legally required. I am being charged with absentees on dates that we had doctor visits, and when I took three hours off to care for her while she was ill. How should I challenge this to get the absences removed from my record?

Re: periodic reports

It sounds like you have some type of employment contract or employee handbook. There should be some section in these that deals with the proper procedure for appeals. I would look it up as soon as possible since there is often a time limit for you to appeal.
