Legal Question in International Law in Arkansas

Family member notarizing documents

My husband and I are doing an international adoption and my mother is a notary. We have had her notarize a few of our documents for our dossier which one agency said was fine but our new agency is concerned. Is it possible that some of our documents could be rejected because a relative notarized them?

Re: Family member notarizing documents

This is almost certainly contrary to your state's notary statute -- attesting to any document in which the notary has a personal interest is one of the common no-no's. Find another notary! Best wishes,
