Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Arkansas

Breaking Lease

Can you break a lease before it is in effect? We signed for a house and have found something better. Can the lease we signed be voided?

Re: Breaking Lease

A lease is a contract that usually cannot be voided, without penalty. You should review the terms of your lease to see what the penalty could be.

A better option would be to try and negotiate your way out of the lease with the landowner. Many times, they will let you out of the lease with an nominal penalty (small payment). Good luck.
