Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arkansas

Duties of the executor

My mother diet approximately six months ago. I have one sister and a brother (who was appointed executor) He, dispite many requests from us, has not informed us of anything he has done. He said he will not until the estate is settled. He is handling the bank account,(which had a great deal of money in it), selling of real estate, filing taxes, etc. Does he have to share information with the other heirs? What are his other responsibilites?

First, read the court file. Has an inventory been filed or does the Will waive an inventory? The inventory lists the property and approximate values of the property contained in the estate. Is your brother bonded as Executor? To relieve any anxiety you may have about the lack of communication from your brother, written correspondence with your brother asking for information about the estate is a good starting point. If necessary, motions can also be filed with the court or interrogatories (written questions in a legal format asking for answers) can be submitted to your brother.
