a friend passed away I had a key to his house,was told by hi sister that was in charge that i could have piece of furniture so its at my house,few days later now she says she wants it back can she legally do that since she gave it to me.

That depends. Since you're dealing with a decedent's estate, there very well may be the need for a formal probate action and authority of the appropriate probate court for such a distribution from the estate. If the the grantor of the gift is the sole heir and there is no necessity for a formal probate and all of the decedent's debts are paid, then you may have a claim to the completed gift property.
