life time dowery

my dasd died back in october of 2004 and he left his home to his children. the home is not paid for his caretaker says that he left her a life time dowery. my questio is can one leave a lifetime dowery on unpaid property such as my dads home? I want to pay off the house but my last question is will i be abel to evict my dad's caretaker after i pay the house off? i do not want her in the house if i am the one paying off the house

Was there a will? If there was a will, what the will says will determine who should have the house and how it is to be paid off.

If there is no will, we would need to determine who all of his heirs are to determine how to proceed.

How does the caregiver say that she got this right to live there? Was there a trust or some type of contract? Was it in the will?
