Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Australia

Unwanted emails

I get emails from my uncle regarding an ongoing problem he has with with my parents. This is an issue between the adults in the familyand I have specifically requested he stop sending me emails that are abusive to my father and other members of our extended family, however he continues to do so regardless. Is there anything I can do, legally, to put a stop to this?

Re: Unwanted emails

Unlikely I'm afraid, because it doesn't fall within the Spam Act and it is not threatening towards you so you would have a hard time seeking a restraining order against him. One solution I can think of is that your father or other members of your family could claim that the emails are defamatory of them (but this is not something that you could do). Alternatively you could set up your email program to delete the emails as they come in; there is usually a "Filters" option you can use for this.
