Legal Question in Family Law in Bahamas

annullment for marriage given on a crusie ship in the bahamas

I have a friend who took a cruise and got married on the ship. This was about 5 years ago. A few days later about less than a week the marriage was annulled. My question is how does my friend go about getting the papers for the annullment if neither part is from the bahamas and live in different countries. Also, how long does it take for the annullment to be finallized. And where can they file to receive the papers from the annullment.

Re: annullment for marriage given on a crusie ship in the bahamas

Your question is very confusing. I will need the following information:

1. Where was the annullment (Bahamas, New York, or other place)?

2. Where do each of the parties reside?

3. Do the parties want New York to recognize the annullment?

I can answer your last question. An annullment or divorce may only be granted in the State Supreme Court.

Mike.
