Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

is it legal to give a person someone elses social security number with out that persons consent? the person who gave out my number lives in arkansas and gave it to a person who lives in Illinois but i live in california. my ex wife gave out my SSN#, my date of birth place of birth and my last 3 address to a complete stranger she met on the internet just because he asked her.

I don't think she would be prosecuted for just that alone, if it was not part of a fraud she was aware of.

From what you're saying it sounds as if the other person obviously may have had some ill intent, but so far, stupidity is still not a crime.

I have a feeling you may not have all the facts yet ... she must have been some reason ('good,' 'bad' or otherwise) that she did that. She's not telling you everything is my sense.
