Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ward of marin county

I the mother did have custody of my child, 13 yrs. but lost to their father by default,( I missed my court date) I have no money and cannot afford an attorney. Father was implying that I was an abusive mother. only to find out that he the father is and so custody was given back to me.
