A second IME has been scheduled on my lifetime disability policy
I have a lifetime disability policy that I have been on for over 5 years due to an automobile accident. I have an 8 mm disc bulge, including disc injuries to my neck and wrist. I cannot return to my normal occupation as a legal secretary. If my condition is worse than at the last IME, do I have to attend a second IME using a doctor of their choosing. Do I have any rights to refuse an IME based on my objective medical record. I only had a 5 mm bulge the last IME and my disc injury is worse now. I feel like I am being harrassed. What are my rights. I receive $3000 a month for my lifetime. I am very concerned about what they are doing and the doctor I am being sent to. If I refuse to go to the IME, but submit my MRI findings, shouldn't that be sufficient!

The policy will determine the insurance carrier's rights and resposibilities. You did not indicate when you had your last IME. A periodic review of your medical condidition is not unreasonable.
