Under the ADA, they likely do not, but under the California anti-discrimination laws, they likely do qualify, as long as they limit physical activities.

Carpal tunnel and lupus, historically yes to some degree if they substantially affect your ability to do your job, but not obesity. Now, if you've been refused reasonable accommodation of the first two by an employer, you may have a claim. Feel free to contact me if so.
