cemetery

we would like to put a memorial on a plot we own internment rights for our deceased sister whose husband has disposed of her ashes elsewhere. If the cemetery authorities should refuse can we sue them?

Generally, when you purchase cemetery plots you purchase the right to designate who may be interred or entombed in the plot, rather than purchasing the grave, plot or lot itself (which typically remains the property and responsibility of the cemetery). Interment rights generally include the right to place a marker or monument, but the size/style/etc. is subject to cemetery rules and regulations. Thus, start with your contract and the current cemetery rules/regulations.
