Legal Question in Administrative Law in California

Federal jury duty

I am currently serving federal jury duty. Although my legal residence is in California, I actually live overseas. I was briefly in the USA when a summons arrived, and my explanation was not deemed adequate to excuse me. I explained to the magistrate in writing that I believe in jury nullification, that I cannot consider the facts of a case without first considering the merits of the law, and that I would only hang a jury that was not fully informed of its power to find a defendant not guilty because it (the jury) disagreed with the law. No prosecutor would conceivably allow me to serve on any jury, but I am here for two months, legally prevented from going home. My statements to the court have been totally truthful. What can I do to protect myself while I am overseas? Can I prevent this from happening again?

Change your legal residence to where you really live.
