An appeal can take several years at each level, sometimes longer.

"History"? Ask him for his educational and experience background. Any discipline is on line at the State Bar.

Re: help

How long an appeal will take depends upon many factors, including which court it is in, whether it is civil or criminal, the length of the record from the lower court, the complexity of the issues, etc.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a lawyer's history". If you mean disciplinary history, that information is available on the State Bar's website (www.calbar.ca.gov). If you mean a won/lost history there is no easy way to get the information. Even if you could get it it would not be very useful. The outcome of many cases is not affected much, if at all, by the talents of the lawyers. Further, some cases are inherently harder to win than others, and an attorney who wins many easy cases might not be as effective as one who has won a handful of harder ones.
