Legal Question in Banking Law in California

false arrest

i'm a working partner with a small pallet rebuilding service. a customer gave us a check for a load of pallets. i went to bank to see if check was cashable and was turned in to police for trying to cash a stolen check. police officer judged me guilty from the start and would not go after customer waiting to load truck that gave us check. it cost us $1000. bail. i appeared for court and case was dropped. i want to reclaim my lost time and jobs lost.

i want bank to pay me for false arrest

Re: false arrest

It appears to me that you may have more of a cause of action against the police department than the bank. The bank would most likely be protected if it was simply following procedures to safeguard against fraudulent check cashing.

This is general information that I hope has been helpful to you. However, you should always obtain legal counsel familiar with your specific circumstances. We may be able to assist you with your legal issues. If we can assist you in the future, please contact us at www.unalaw.com and somebody will assist you as soon as possible.
