Son owns a home, divorced, one child, fired from job, no unemploy-ment income. Can he file bancruptcy including house $170,000 , a 2nd mortgage about $100,000, and 2 credits cards = $8,000? How much is legal fee?

We need more information to answer your question: Does he have more than 50% custody? What is the house worth? Does he want to keep it? How long unemployed and how much did he make before?

Yes, he can file bankruptcy ... whether a Chapter 7 or 13 depends on the answers.
