Bankruptcy and garnishment

I have a checking acct and credit card with the same bank. I have my ssdi direct deposited. Can the bank take out money from my checking acct after I file bankruptcy?

No, but they can temporarily freeze the account after you file bankruptcy, but that has nothing to do with whether you owe them money (i.e. any bank can do that). To my knowledge, only Wells Fargo Bank and Washing. Mutual do this.

No, but it doesn't mean it won't and you'd have to fight them to get it back. If you're considering bankruptcy and you're concerned they'll take money out or freeze the account, there are other steps you can take to prevent it such as moving the account elsewhere.
