Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

bankruptcy info

I am thinking about filing for bankruptcy. I co-signed for a friend for a vehicle. However, I do not talk to this friend anymore, but he is keeping payments up to date, I am just afraid he is going to run away. Since I don't have any papers, and the loan is under my name for the vehicle. What can I do? What kind of things must I need as far as paperwork? Do I go to the dealership and request some kind of statement?

Re: bankruptcy info

If you know the name of the finance company, then finding the address to send the Notice of Bankruptcy Petition to will be easy. You can also look at your credit report. The finance company is probably listed as a creditor you are obligated to make payments to. Depending on what chapter you qualify for, it may be possible to completely eliminate the debt in bankruptcy.
