Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I went though a chapter 13 over 12 years ago. About 2 years ago I got a collectors letter and did not realize who it was until after payment was made. I notified the collector and the bills stopped but since then I have been hit by other collector agencies from Providian who is trying to collect payment on an approved banruptcy. I now realize by making this payment it reactivated the bill. How do I get out of this?

If these debts were listed in the Chapter 13 bankruptcy and were discharged, you should contact these companies and notify them that were listed in the bankruptcy and discharged. You can send them a copy of your bankruptcy discharge if they require evidence. These companies should not be contacted you if they were discharged in the bankruptcy. They could be sanctioned if they continue to attempt to collect on the debt that was discharged in the bankruptcy. Southern California Law Advocates http://www.socaladvocates.com
