Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I have file for bankruptcy in 2001, chapter 7, I remember at the time I was told that my bankruptcy will remain on my credit report for no more than 7 years. Was this law revised after 2001 to extend bankruptcies to 10 years on credit reports? And if it was, do I have a case to have the credit bureaus remove it from my credit report since I filed bankruptcy before the revised law.

thank you for your time.

J

It's not changed. It's always been 10 years. At the time, you could not file another bankruptcy for 6 years. Now that's been changed to 8 years.
