To answer this broadly, bankruptcy can protect you from garnishment of wages and other sources of income to the extent your interests are exempt.

Eviction is a tricky thing; even an unlawful detainer attorney will quote you a wide range for the time it takes, depending on whether you oppose it actively. But there is due process and it takes time. Bankruptcy can buy you further temporary relief from eviction.
