Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I have lost everything and still not working and now living with relatives. I have credit card debt and no money to file for bankruptcey. Is there a time limit on credit card debt where it is dismissed, and if so how many years? I live in California.

The statute of limitations in California is four years. If you are sued after four years of not paying then you need to answer the court complaint and state that the debt is not legally collectible because you were not sued within four years of defaulting on the payments. There are exceptions to the four year statute of limitations but those are rare situations.
