Can a person do a short sale if need be after filing a chapter 13?

Yes. Your lawyer needs to file a motion for court approval. Since you will not benefit from a short sale then the question is: Who is going to pay the lawyer? Maybe the agent, who is getting a commission, should pay your lawyer to obtsin court approval. Why anyone in Chapter 13 would want to do a short sale is hard to understand but it is not uncommon.
