Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Which State Do I Declare Bankruptcy In?

I work & legally reside in California. I own a home in Oregon, listed as a primary residence. The house has a mortgage, and it is the only house I own. I wish to declare bankruptcy. Can I declare bankruptcy in California, and still keep my home in Oregon? Or, should I change my residency to Oregon and declare bankruptcy there?

Re: Which State Do I Declare Bankruptcy In?

What you should do depends on what equity you have in the property, what the value of all your assets are, and what your monthly income and expenses are. It may also depend on what Oregon's exemption laws are.
