Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I am being sued for a credit card debt, in the amount of $1,443. Attached to the Summons I received are suggestions made by the Superior Court of California; mediation, arbitration, or case evaluation. I am anxious to get your feedback on these suggestions. I am currently unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits. I would not be able to pay this debt in full all at once. Any feedback you have for my situation? Please note that I do not plan on fililng bankruptcy at this time and I have other debts that are also delinquent.

Have you actually consulted a bankruptcy lawyer in person? Also, how old is this debt? Sometimes people get sued past the statute of limitations (about 4 years from your last payment). If this applies to you, please call me.
