Legal Question in Business Law in California

copyright infrigment

i am an artist. and a company has copied my original works of art and selling copies for profit. They do not have my permission.

I previously hired their art director to couch me on getting into the art decor market. I paid her $35.00 for her services. She took my images and used them without my permission for resale by the company she works for.

I accidently saw my art images on a show on HGTV and they led me back to this girl and the company she works for. I do not know how many other images she might have stolen.

OK, you sue. If you had the good sense to register the works with the copyright office, you can sue for more + attorney fees.

Do you have a Federal copyright on your work currently? If not we need to talk about how to protect your work, plus how to recover as against this company.

I don't see a question in your post and so I'm assuming you're looking for a referral. You may want to look for an intellectual property attorney in the Los Angeles area based on your zipcode. My office handles some soft IP (i.e. non-patent) IP work and/or I can refer you out to an associate. You do not indicate whether the artwork was federally registered, which makes your case simpler and allows recovery of additional damages.
