Legal Question in Business Law in California

Need an inexpensive attorney to settle 40k Yellow page/phone bill.t

We want to negoiate a settlement on a 40k Yellow Page & Phone Bill. A quick negoiation is preferred as we prefer to continue YP ads. We think we need a professional negoiator with power that knows phone law.

Called the the Santa Clara Bar referral ($30 to interview an attorney) looking for an attorney last week. They said they have no one willing to advise in regard to PacBell issues.

My complaints:

PacBell refused to seperate YP & phone issues between 10/97 & 6/99 when they separated billing.

PacbBell is charging for YP that was to be billed to others and the phone number in th the ad does not go to us. PacBell has ignored my letters.

PacBell could not give us a configuation of our phone lines for months.

PacBell demanded about $150 11/98-3/99 to pay for their time for a face to face meeting to resolve these issues.

Has refused to cancel phone lines until we pay YP.

Turned off our phone service twice in the last two months, once for two days another for 10 days. Our bookkepper finally proved that we were paid up and they turned service back on without penalty.

Can'y get Valley YP off our telephone bill. Last week they told us they have an intermediary contract & they do not contract directly with Valley.

Depending on your expectations and pacific bells position on the matter a settlement could take between 30 days and a year, if the case has to go to court. My experience with pacific bell in the past is that since they have a monopoly on phone service in California they are untouchable. However with the new laws this is not so anymore. I have over a decade of experience in Civil litigation and settlement negotiations. If you are still in need of assistance in this matter please feel free to contact my office toll free at 888-563-8529. I have offices in San Ramon and Fresno. My main office, however, is in San Luis Obispo which helps me be accessible throughout the state. I look forward to speaking with you and devising a plan of action.

Sincerely,

John Hayes, Esq.
