Legal Question in Business Law in California

Lottery Club In CA:

I need some of your guidance please if you don't mind.

Thank-you in advance for your generous and kind help!

My husband and I want to start a local lottery club.

We've researched a lot of info so we do it right and we want to get a little more feedback from you please before we start.

This is what we've learned so far:

We can't take payments through the mail.

We can't take payments on-line.

We have to get payments from club members in person to be legal.

The CA Lottery web site promotes "group play" and as long as our group is under 100 we're okay per the CA Lottery guidelines.

We're using a club agreement based on recommendations of the CA Lottery.

All payments will be by check so members can have proof that they paid.

If we win, I should say "when" we win, we must use the "multiple player" claim form.

Any other tips or legal guidance would help us.

Again, I really appreciate your help in this.

Say some prayers for us! Then we'll hire you when we win!! : )

It seems to me that you're on the right track; my advice would be to make sure you follow ALL the CA Lottery's rules, not just the ones you mentioned. Keep good records.

The lottery is a tax on people for not understanding statistics.
