Legal Question in Business Law in California

Non Profit

I am president of a museum in CA. Our museum is specialized in Cold War specifically related to CA. We have decided to form a County Museum in order to make our organization more viable and since our County has no museum. Several local historical organizations are in support of our efforts and a couple of them have not obtained 501 c 3 yet. Should we form a separate entity as a group exemtion or can we use our existing one and change it to a group organization with a DBA? Are ther other alternatives? Also, yes we will obtain our own attorney when we can afford one, as you can imagine times are really hard right now. We appreciate any advice you can offer.

Re: Non Profit

I'm not sure that I totally understand your question in that it is unclear exactly what you're proposing to do with the other local organizations. I have some experience with forming non-profits and would be willing to speak with you if you. Please contact me through my website at cowinlawfirm.com as I would prefer initial contact through email. - Cathy
