Legal Question in Business Law in California

Pay Cuts Legal?

My employer advised us today, that effective immediately, all employees are going to be taking a 10% pay cut for the summer months due to economic conditions.

I'm an hourly employee making $10.50/hr. currently working as a lighting designer in a retail store of a non-union, privately owned business working full time. (I believe it's a right to work state).

Do I have any recourse, or just shut up and be grateful I have a job?

Re: Pay Cuts Legal?

California is not a so-called "right to work" state, employees are allowed to unionize. But as you said, yours is a non-union private employer.

Get another job if you can.
