Legal Question in Business Law in California

pet contracts

How binding are pet contracts? If a contract states a pet must go to obedience school within a year but the new owners do not, can the sellers come back say in 5 years and take the pet back?

Re: pet contracts

What is this, Aunt Hattie's will? The pet buyer has to attend obedience school and pet parenting classes or else some pet social worker is going to come and remove poor Fido? Pets and bicycles are two things you ought to be able to buy without having to sign a contract.

I doubt that the contractual conditions you describe, such as the obedience-school clause and the 5-year-doggie-repo clause, would be upheld in the courts. Nevertheless, it's better not to sign contracts containing these types of provisions to begin with.
