Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

my bank account just got a sheriff's levy by a credit card co. and they took all my rent and living money with no notice...i am going through a homeless moment and am living on unemployment for me and my 19 year old son that is in school...is there any way to stop them from taking all my money and is there any way to make them give back my unemployment money...they took it from my bank account

You are entitled to legally required notices before levy, but I am reasonably certain the bank sent that to your last known address, as required. The notice explained and provided you opportunity to file a objection and request for exemption from levy. That would have limited the amount that could have been taken. Now that levy occurred without your legal objection, your options are to negotiate with the creditor [not likely to succeed], or to file a court motion seeking relief from default and the exemption. IF you don't know how to do that yourself, you'll need to seek help from some local legal clinic or probono assistance. Call your local Lawyer Referral Service and ask their help.
