Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

i was beaten up recently by 2 off duty police officers outside of a bar.they were intoxicated and so was i.while they were beating me up they were flashing they're badges and identifying themselves as police officers to people nearby(not to me)can i sue the department they work for?i was injured very badly.los angeles ca.

You can file a Government Tort Claim within 6 months, and then file a lawsuit once the claim is rejected or denied, which it will be unless you have 'Rodney King' type video of the entire event proving you were not at fault or resisting, etc.

If this is your word versus theirs as to what happened and why, how do intend to prove your case?? It requires credible evidence to corroborate your version of the story, and prove they were using excessive force, etc.
