Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

My boyfriend and I have a car with both our names on it, he has a oppsessed ex girlfreind who is trying everything in the book to make us not last she even has bogas law suite against him because when he received court papers he was so nieve he did not beleive that her lies could win, so he did not return the papers in time ( he read the dates wrong and did not understand)and lost without even being able to stand up for himself in court (she works under the taBLE FOR A LAYWER) SHE HAD EVERYTHING SHE N EED TO SCREW HIM OVER) HE TRIED TO APPEAL IT HIMSELF BUT DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE ARE BOTH ON UNEMPLOYMENT WE COULD NOT AFFORD TO GET A LAYWER, HE WAS AFRAID TO TELL ME ABOUT IT UNTILL IT WAS TO LATE, SHE IS CLAIMING THAT HE BEAT HER UP BUT THE COPS WERE NEVER CALLED HE WAS NEVER ARRESTED AND SHE CAME TO MY HOUSE THAT NIGHT AND WAS FINE, SHE IS SUEING FOR 35.000.00M ON FEB 2, HE HAS A COURT DATE TO SHOW HIS BANK STATEMENT ECT. SHE HAS CONTACTED HIM SAYING SHE WILL DROP EVERYTHING IF HE MOVES OUT OF OUR APT, AND STOPS SEEING ME, (SOUNDS LIKE BLACKMAIL TO ME ) IS THAT LEGAL????? SHE IS ALSO TELLING ME SHE IS GOING TO TAKE OUR CAR, CAN SHE DO THIS (I AM NOT BEING SUED) HOW CAN SHE TAKE MY PROPERTY...PLEASE PLEASE HELP WE REALLY NEED SOME ADVICE (
