Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Job Termination of Disabled Adult

My son has learning disabilities due to a heart problem during infancy. For several years he has worked with a firm that solely creates jobs for the developmental disabled through outside contracts. The firm works closely with a government rehab center for new employees. My son started off as a client at the rehab center and received employment through the firm in question. He later worked himself up as a job supervisor. He was told last Wednesday that his last day of work would be on Friday. He was told that because he had reading disabilities, they could not promote him to a job coach. First, he never was asked to be a job coach, and second, he never received any training to be a job coach. He feels that the firm that creates jobs for the developmental disabled, discriminated against him for have a reading disability to secure a position he never asked for. He was never given any written statement about his termination. He was even asked that he could continue working the last 2 days of the month if he wanted to do so. So, isn't this interesting. A firm that employs people with disabilities, yet discriminates about their disabilities. What is my sons recourse ?

Have him write them a letter confirming their conversation of X date and everything that was told to him. Then have him call an attorney.
